La Grippe: a cinematic adaptation of “Roman Fever” by Edith Wharton

Cast: Alida Slade: Judi Dench Grace Ansley: Jamie Lee Curtis Young Grace: Keira Knightley Young Alida: Natalie Portman Delphin: Orlando Bloom Soundtrack: Iva Davies The film will be shot around the conversation between Grace and Alida, bouncing back and forth between the conversation in the present and memories. I would make the ratio of memory to conversation scenes 1:1. For the climax of the narratives drama, the description of Alida sending the letter and Grace receiving it, should use narration from the present and actions occurring before the audience in the past. As Grace approaches the Colosseum, the camera will pan out from the entrance of the Colosseum to the café where Grace and Alida are conversing in the present. The original story would be preserved to the best of my ability. The actors for Grace and Alida were chosen as I enjoyed them in Freaky Friday and The Importance of Being Earnest respectively.
